Purpose: Configure the Windows-based Votiro File Connector (FC) to submit files to Votiro SaaS for sanitization and save the processed files to an output folder.

Scope: External File Connector installed on Windows Server and connected to Votiro SaaS. This procedure does not describe the built-in File Connector for Votiro Virtual Appliance (On-Prem).

Prerequisites

  • A Windows Server with administrative permissions.

  • Access to the relevant Votiro SaaS tenant, including a service token and an existing sanitization policy.

  • Local or otherwise accessible input and output folders with appropriate permissions for the File Connector service account.

  • Outbound connectivity from Windows Server to the SaaS API endpoint for the tenant's region.

Step 1 — Obtain and Install the File Connector

  1. Contact the Menlo Security Support team and request the Windows File Connector EXE installer (File Connector 8.4.8.71).

  2. Install the EXE on the Windows Server.

  3. After installation, open C:\Program Files\Votiro\Votiro File Connector.

Step 2 — Open the Configuration File

  1. Locate C:\Program Files\Votiro\Votiro File Connector\FileConnector.config.

  2. Back up the existing configuration file before editing.

  3. Open FileConnector.config with a text editor running as Administrator.

Step 3 — Update the Required Parameters

Parameter

What to configure

PolicyName

Enter the exact name of the existing SaaS sanitization policy, e.g. Default Policy. Keep PolicyConfigurationName and PolicyParams Name consistent if those configuration names are changed.

CloudAPIKey

Paste the service token created in the Votiro SaaS tenant. Treat this value as a secret.

WebApiRemoteHost

Specify the correct Votiro SaaS API endpoint for the tenant's deployment region. Example for an EU deployment: https://prod.eu.paralus.votiro.com/disarmer/api/disarmer/v4/.

In and Out

Specify the folder paths watched for new files and used for sanitized output, for example C:\sdsroot\FC\in\ and C:\sdsroot\FC\out\.

Configuration example (values are placeholders):

<Channel Name="DefaultChannel" PolicyConfigurationName="DefaultPolicy" In="C:\sdsroot\FC\in\" Out="C:\sdsroot\FC\out\" /> <PolicyParams Name="DefaultPolicy"> <PredefinedPolicy PolicyName="Default Policy"> ... </PredefinedPolicy> </PolicyParams> <WebApiSettings CloudAPIKey="<YOUR_SERVICE_TOKEN>" WebApiRemoteHost="https://prod.eu.paralus.votiro.com/disarmer/api/disarmer/v4/" />

The excerpt above illustrates only the settings to change. Preserve all other attributes and elements in the installed configuration file. A redacted annotated screenshot should be attached below for reference.

Step 4 — Save and Restart

  1. Save the updated FileConnector.config.

  2. Restart the Votiro File Connector Windows service to apply the changes.

Step 5 — Validate End-to-End Processing

  1. Place a harmless test file in the configured In directory.

  2. Confirm that the connector detects the file and sends it to Votiro SaaS.

  3. Confirm the processed file appears in the configured Out directory.

  4. If processing fails, inspect File Connector logs, network connectivity, service token validity, policy name and folder permissions.

Votiro SaaS UI Configuration

No additional File Connector/channel configuration is required in the SaaS Admin UI. The referenced policy must already exist, and a service token must be generated for the connector. Both values are referenced from the Windows configuration file.
