Firefox browser will automatically check for updated versions and download them to keep up to date with security and feature updates.
In a strict 'isolate all' policy, these update requests may not be allowed through when they receive an isolate policy action rather than passing the content through directly.
To access Firefox updates two domains must be accessible:
- download.mozilla.org
- aus5.mozilla.org
To ensure Firefox updates are permitted, one of the following configurations can be used.
- If using the Menlo Security Proxy Auto-Configuration service, enable the Firefox option in the PAC 'edit defaults' settings. This bypasses the relevant domains from the Menlo proxy.
- Add a domain Web Policy Exception to 'allow' traffic to download.mozilla.org and aus5.mozilla.org.
- Add an SSL Decryption Exemption rule for download.mozilla.org and aus5.mozilla.org.
